Welcome back to the blog everyone, just wrapped up week 6 here in Costa Rica and at Resonetics. It’s hard to believe I only have 4 weeks left in this summer program, where has the time gone. It has been a great time so far and definitely the most traveling and exploring I have done in a long time. First off, work last week was not too crazy but kept me pretty busy. I am working to implement a complete redesign of one of the tooling fixtures which has been a lot of quote gathering to compare costs between local machine shops. This upcoming week I hope to get final approval following a design review with my manager so I can receive the final machined parts in time to run validation tests before the internship ends. In parallel, I have been helping with some smaller design projects to address problems expressed by operators on the manufacturing floor. I am hoping to get into some testing for another large fixture design supporting the initial inspection process of finished products after they are machined. This one is still a ways off from implementation but I am hoping to complete the bulk of the design and quoting tasks before the internship ends so someone can easily take it over and see it through.

This past weekend, we took a trip to Monteverde, Costa Rica, and it was an unforgettable experience filled with adventure and stunning natural beauty. One of the highlights was ziplining through the forest canopy — soaring over the lush greenery with incredible views of the surrounding mountains and treetops was both exhilarating and surreal. We also spent time hiking to the famous hanging bridges, which offered breathtaking views and a unique way to experience the forest from above. Walking across the bridges, suspended high among the trees, was little nerve racking at first as the entire bridge swayed up and down, back and forth but those feelings soon went away and were replaced with awe for the beauty of the jungle. Another memorable part of the trip was hiking through the Monteverde Cloud Forest Reserve. The trail led us into the misty forest to a scenic viewpoint and a hidden waterfall, both surrounded by lush greenery and the sounds of birds and rushing water. The entire weekend was a refreshing escape into nature and a perfect reminder of Costa Rica’s incredible natural treasures. That’s it for now, see you back here in a week!
