Welcome back Y’all,

I recently wrapped up my third week here in Costa Rica and at Resonetics! I am setting into a nice routine here during the week that consists of waking up around 7 or so and leaving by 8. The day goes by fast and I leave work anywhere around 5:30 just in time to see the sunset (if the weather allows it). By the time I get home, with rush hour traffic, it is usually time to make dinner and watch a show before settling in for the night. I have been rewatching the Yellowstone series lately which was one of my favorites during undergrad and am refreshing my memory before finishing the final season that came out last year. Over the weekends, the other GMI students and I usually have some fun excursions planned but I was unfortunately feeling under the weather so I had to miss out on the animal sanctuary and downtown this weekend. Do be tuned for next weekend, however, as we have an exciting trip planned that I can’t wait to share all about.

Last week at work was a healthy mix of hands on prototyping, document preparation, and process training in a different manufacturing sector of Resonetics. I started the week off by creating updated parts for the fixture I am working to implement on the SLA 3D printer. The work station got a little messy during assembly but everything got put back together and functioning properly. The next step is to verify the updated fixture still functions properly in the machine process before sending it off to an external shop for quoting and final metal fabrication. My second project involves a lot of document preparation part as I am helping with a new product integration project in the materials solutions aka “grinding” manufacturing sector. It involves work with raw material quoting, high level manufacturing process flow generation, and presentation preparation. Last week, I put together a list of technical specifications for each part # provided and started identifying ones that could be matched together by process flows to help streamline the doc preparation process. This will continue into the next week and hopefully I will have enough information to begin with the raw material quoting process by the end of the week.

In other news, on Thursday, some of the engineering team went out for a little after work excursion to a local indoor go karting place. Despite getting smoked by the boss in both races, it was an amazing time and a fun to get to know those I have been working with outside of the office. I look forward to many more outings with these people over the next several weeks.

That’s it for now everyone, be sure to stay tuned for next week as we embark on what might come to be my favorite memory from the entire trip.
