This week’s focus was on testing all the code for the H&E Stainer and ensuring that the device will work as intended when slides with samples are introduced. This was a fairly simple yet tedious process. However, I found that throughout the week I became more comfortable with working with g-code, a coding language I have never used before. Even before the week was over, I optimized the code to run smoothly. In order to make the device even more reliable and easy for a technician to use we printed off a second histology jar holder and an aligner for the histology jar holders. This gave the device enough tools to easily accommodate with the hospitals current H&E staining process. We feel that this device is quite promising, but we need to do the final testing which is to test the device with actual samples to ensure quality of the staining process.

In addition to the H&E stainer we started to prepare for the presentation we are giving at the hospital. We had time to create and complete the presentation slides for all the projects that we have collaborated on while at Hospital de Amor. We are both super excited for this presentation and have gotten it reviewed by Dr. Vasquez, a head supervisor here at the hospital. After updated it with the suggested edits we did not have time to practice it, but the plan is to run through our presentation a few times before Friday to ensure its quality. We are very excited to show off all the work we have been doing and how we have helped the hospital throughout our time in Brazil.
