This week contained a lot of big developments. Early on this week the 3D printer we needed to continue our main project finally came in. With the arrival of this printer, it allowed us to start printing parts for the printer to be converted into an automatic H&E stainer machine. I have never setup a 3D printer before, and it was very interesting to go through the process. To me the initial building of the printer was quite fun and felt like one large LEGO set. However, as we got to printing, I quickly became very thankful for all the information that my past project coordinator passed on to me. It was very helpful when trouble shooting what was wrong with a print or if a print was doing well. By the end of the week, we were able to print almost every part we needed. This means that next week we will be able to transform the printer and start testing the code. I am very excited to see how this project comes together, and I am starting to visualize how many people it will help. The week ended off with a middle of the year party hosted by the hospital. It is called Festa Junina. The festival included live performances and free food. I loved the difference in style of country music to America’s country music and truly did enjoy the traditional Brazilian food. I had a great time and was so thankful that they invited me to come along. We even got to see the head of the whole hospital speak.
