Buenas tardes!
Hope everyone is doing well. Last week was my seventh week working at MicroVention and it went pretty smoothly. I was mostly helping out in the clean room and preparing for a visit from the BOBBY manufacturing team in Aliso Viejo, CA. The team arrived this past weekend and will stay for the next few weeks to help with the validation process. I also observed how the operators were trained on new test methods (TMs) in the manufacturing line which was very interesting. They pulled up a TV to display the document and the engineer walked the operators through it, answering any questions they had. After reviewing the TM, the trainer and trainees had to sign a document to prove that they were officially trained. I also continued walking through the BOBBY line and learned more specifics about the product design and each manufacturing step, asking the operators if I had any questions.
Something interesting I saw this past week was MicroVention’s old-fashioned documentation system. After training about 10-15 operators on a single TM, each operator received a sheet of paper they had to sign to document they had received the training. The engineer had to train the operators on four different TMs, and for each new TM the operators had to sign a different sheet of paper. At the end, the engineer who trained them had to sign these papers as well to document he was the one responsible for the training, thus having to sign around 40-60 sheets of paper. This process was very inefficient, wasting a lot of paper and time for the engineer. Considering all these sheets also have to be scanned and uploaded to the database, this paper system seems like a huge waste of time rather than having an online system with electronic signatures which would be significantly quicker.
This past week my mom and girlfriend came to visit me in Costa Rica! So over the weekend we went to visit Puerto Viejo, Limon. We rented a car and drove about 4 hours to get there, and the trip was amazing π We drove to the beach and literally parked on the beach next to the ocean π²π There were other families who parked next to us and they set up a whole grill for lunch time, brought games to play, and had drinks and snacks. I’ve never experienced the beach like this before, but I really enjoyed it. I even went to play with some other boys who were passing a ball around. We spent the whole day at the beach and then for dinner tried Caribbean food which was soooo good! Caribbean food is coconut based and I loved it, I think Caribbean food might be my favorite type of food now π Overall, this was one of the best trips I’ve had in Costa Rica so far, and I would highly recommend this place to everyone. Here are some pictures of the beach and the food we ate while we were over there!
Hope everyone has a great rest of their week!
