Hi 😊 My name is Summan.
I just graduated from the University of Texas at Dallas (UTD) with my B.S. Biomedical Engineering in Spring 24’ 🎓. I am currently matriculating into Rice University’s Global Medical Innovation (GMI) Program beginning this Summer. Some facts about me:
- I’m passionate about medical innovation and hope to learn more about medical device development
- In the future, I would love to initiate a medical device startup!
- My dream is to be a doctor, although I’m not sure which specialty I’m interested in right now
Me Graduating from UTD
I have experience in clinical shadowing, as well as rapid prototyping. However, I have never done needs finding and this is a skill I hope to cultivate during my upcoming summer internship with GMI. This summer I will be doing a clinical shadowing internship with Hospital Nacional de Niños in Costa Rica 🇨🇷 🏥. Alongside clinical observations, I will be finding clinical needs that biomedical engineers can address. I am so excited for this opportunity! Going into GMI in the fall, I hope to use my needs finding experience from the internship to continue coming up with innovative medical device conceptual ideas.
