Our second week in Costa Rica was so different from the first week but in all the best ways!! We didn’t do as many touristy things because we have been pretty exhausted with the first days of our internships but we are still loving it. We have eaten multiple times at a restaurant super close that the guys refer to as “the spot”. The worker/ owner is so sweet and so patient with us every time!!
As far as starting our internships, I think I’m going to absolutely love mine! I’m working with Confluent Medical in their Coyol Free Zone locations, specifically with a project called LimFlow. It’s transcatheter arterialization of venous structures. Specifically within the project, I’ll be working on improving their manufacturing process by helping design and create automation devices. Even this early in my position I’ve already helped ideate and 3D design a small project helping with one aspect of the manufacturing process that the current technicians are having trouble with. The first few days have had a lot of training and new-hire paperwork, but everyone has been so nice and are making us feel so included already. My GMI teammate is probably getting tired of taking selfies (as seen here).
The area that we work is located in Alejuela? So our commute is pretty long every day. We take an Uber there and the company bud brings us back. In total we spend about 3 hours commuting every day, so me and my GMI partner are getting really close and also taking lots of naps lol!
Today we spent the day at our friends house and we got to walk around his neighborhood and see all kinds of really pretty flowers and scenery. I’ve been taking pictures of flowers for one of my friends because she loves them, and this neighborhood has so so many!
Overall I’m still absolutely loving being here, and I can’t wait to dive deeper into my work as well as the Costa Rican culture!!
