Thanks for tuning back into Ravi’s life in Costa Rica. Last week, we completed a grueling 27-hour medical innovation boot camp across 3 days. Our project was super interesting – we proposed a software solution to help correct excessive motion artifacts caused by patients suffering from tremors (i.e. Parkinson’s, essential tremors). Our team developed a cool framework for integrating our software with our perception of a modern clinical workflow. Overall, it was a fun project to tackle and I learned tons about teamwork and collaboration.

After taking a much needed break over the weekend, Hannah and I started our summer internship at Confluent Medical, a medical device company that specializes in nitinol components and catheter production. Not going to lie, some of the onboarding tasks were super boring, but we were both excited to hit the ground running. So far, I’ve been able to witness and interact with different people on the manufacturing floor. I’ve gotten to perform some administrative tasks dealing with validation/verification of many documents. Overall, I’ve still got much to learn but it’s been super exciting so far.

Lastly, a few personal updates. We’ve all found a super chill diner – “La Esquinita de la Abuela” – but we refer to it as “the spot”.  Anytime we’re all super tired or don’t feel like going anywhere nice for dinner, this is quite literally the spot to go. Tasty food, not too heavy, and always good vibes from the owner.

Will update y’all next week – stay tuned once again. Chao!
