I graduated from the University of Michigan with my B.S.E. in Biomedical Engineering and a minor in Multidisciplinary Design in December 2016. During undergrad, I developed an interest in global health through extracurricular groups on campus. The culmination of these experiences came with my capstone senior design project where I had the opportunity to select my project based on needs I observed first hand during an 8-week clinical immersion experience in Kumasi, Ghana. This project experience taught me about the concept generation and prototype creation, but I am interested in learning more about the later processes of medical device development. I am excited for the opportunity to gain this knowledge through the GMI curriculum and the unique combination of coursework and innovative project work it offers. The GMI program allows me to have a holistic understanding of the medical device development and production process while continuing my work in the field of global health before joining the medical device industry.
