This past week at work was tough. I got through it, but there were bumps along the road that made the week a little frustrating at times. The biggest bumps were caused by rifts in communication. Communication is key, especially when working with others as a team. Communication between team members allows for everyone to work as one unified group, for everyone to have equal expectations, and to keep every team member up-to-date and informed.

Having a disruption in communication between myself and other teammates was hard, but it taught me a valuable lesson. When discussing a new project, it is important to make sure everyone is on the same page, and understands more than just the project description. Everyone on the team must understand the larger constraints and circumstances of the project, such as timing, who will be receiving the project once completed, and expectations of work schedule. Often, these factors may seem like a given when working with the same team, but new projects always bring new circumstances. Though project leads might not stress or mention these additional circumstances and constraints for every project, it is important for all team members to inquire and address them with the team, as redundant as it may seem in the moment.

Having clarity and uniform expectations allows for greater productivity and less ambiguity as the project progresses. This week taught me that keeping open communication between yourself and other team members is crucial to maintain that clarity and uniformity among the team.
